Campbell Road plays original arrangements of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes and songs. The group also performs tunes from other traditions (everything from Cape Breton to Scandinavian to klezmer) as well as some original compositions.

Band members include Jessamyn Tuttle on flute, whistle, bodhran (Irish drum), djembe, claves, and vocals; Jon Nauert on fiddle, bouzouki, djembe, and vocals; Dan Tuttle on guitar, banjo, fiddle, and vocals; and Barbara Tuttle on bodhran, djembe, and other percussion instruments.

Although Campbell Road in its current configuration and under its current name has only existed since 1997, the group actually has been playing together for much longer.

The band evolved out of an earlier band that Dan was in, which played under various names including The Predator Parasites, Violet and the Dead Husbands, The St. Cecilia Ceili Band and, every St. PatrickÕs Day, the Upper Valley Pseudo-Irish String Band. ÊÊ

Jessamyn joined in when she got old enough to be allowed in the bars, and Barbara took up the bodhran. Jon arrived on the scene in 1994, earning a place in the band by marrying into the family.ÊAt its peak, the Pseudo-Irish String Band had nine members crammed onto one tiny stage.Ê Shortly thereafter members of the band started drifting away.

Whittled down to the core family, the band played under the names Tuttle Family Band (too plain), and Fhideag (too hard to spell or pronounce). Neither of the names really fit the bill. A new name was needed, but what? The band members needed a sign . . .

About this time Chelan County decided to rename the stretch of Old Blewett Highway where Dan and Barbara live to Campbell Road.ÊIt fit.ÊIt was easy to spell.ÊIt was easy to pronounce.ÊThe band became Campbell Road in 1997.

Campbell Road has performed at pubs, festivals, Highland Games, weddings, and private parties throughout the state of Washington.ÊThe list below is not meant to be complete, but merely serves as an indication of some of the places we play.

Campbell Road has recorded two CDs - By Blood or Marriage, released in 1997, and Bare Bones, released in 2002. Both CDs feature cover art by Dan Tuttle.

The group has appeared at Northwest Folklife Festival, Yakima Folklife Festival, Spokane Fall Folk Festival, Tumbleweed Music Festival, and Leavenworth Acoustic Music Festival.

Campbell Road, which hails from Peshastin and Mount Vernon, has also appeared at Skagit Valley Highland Games and Whidbey Island Highland Games.
