Akafellas are five guys from Olympia and Tacoma that love singing a cappella music.
None are going to be quitting their day jobs any time soon. They include a middle school choir teacher, a human resources supervisor, a massage therapist, an elementary school behavioral specialist and a computer system salesman.
A few of The Akafellas have been singing together for many years. Performances in past years have included opening for groups like The Lovin' Spoonful and BJ Thomas, singing at many western Washington county fairs, corporate and private parties and so on.
"We love to sing all kinds and styles of a cappella music from doo-wop to pop, barbershop, rock, soul and yes, even country," says Jon Morgan, a 1987 graduate of Omak High School. "We sing some old and some new, but overall, we just get a kick out of getting together to sing and have fun"
Others in the group include Michi Imamura, Jon Murdock, Tony Benjamins and Bart Kryger.
Also during Omak All Class Reunion Weekend, the Akafellas will sing a couple songs at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at Civic League Park in Omak and a couple songs at 3 p.m. the same day in an assembly at the Omak High School gym.
