Come prepared for a night of acoustic rock and salsa.
The improvised lyrics of vocalist/guitarist/tresero Eli Rosenblatt, the booming double-bass of Evan Flory-Barnes and the cutting, melodic playing of conguero Lalo Bello (congas and vocals) have the immediacy and spontaneity of street music.
Though much of Picoso's sound is based in Cuban and other Caribbean traditions, the soul of the group is firmly rooted in the streets of Seattle, where the group started playing.
All of their songs are original compositions, and the combination of raw sound and boisterous energy created by Picoso makes it difficult to stand still. In addition to the core of tres/guitar, double-bass, conga/bongo and vocals, Picoso features Isaac Mills on saxophone and flute, Sam Boshnack on trumpet, Adam Weiss on saxophone and Alfonso Gonzalez on percussion.
Picosa most recently played at Seattle's Tost March 8 and Nectar Feb. 20
Come prepared to dance.
